West Nile Virus : A Systematic Review

Abstract : West Nile Virus (WNV) was first time isolated in a woman in the district of West Nile in Uganda in the year 1937. It was identified in birds (crows and columbiformes) in Nile delta region in 1953.

West Nile Virus is enveloped, single-stranded RNS arbovirus that can cause disease in humans through mosquitoes bites and ranges from asymptomatic to symptoms such as  fever, headache, pain etc. It is a member of the Flaviviridae family. Most part of the world experienced this disease and suffered. There is no specific treatment available yet.

West Nile Virus (WNV) causes West Nile Fever and as per World Health Organization 80% of the patients may not show any symptoms but in few cases symptoms may varies from patient to patient such as fever, body aches, joint pain, vomiting, diarrhea etc. Preventive measures are the effective way to prevent the spread of this disease includes the mosquito repellants, destroy the mosquitoes breeding places and use the full sleeves cloths.

It’s really life threatening and only symptomatic treatment will be provided for the patients. Many research studies conducting across the globe to find out the accurate treatment and its faster recovery without fatality.
