Abstract :  A descriptive survey was conducted to find out the factors associated with bronchial asthma among children under the age of five years, in selected Government Hospital, Kolkata. The objective of the study was to find out the association between selected factors like socio-demographic factors, personal factors and disease specific factors with bronchial asthma among children under-five. The conceptual framework adopted for the study is based on a single middle range theory of epidemiological triad. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 50 under five children suffering from bronchial asthma. Parents of these children suffering from bronchial asthma were interviewed in accordance with a semi-structured interview schedule and the nutritional status of the chosen children was assessed in terms of (Body Mass Index) BMI. The findings showed that socio-economic status had a significant association with bronchial asthma in children under the age of five. Significant association was also found between episode of asthma and severity of bronchial asthma. A significant relation was also found between the triggering factors and bronchial asthma among under–five children. The majority of the children under-five were male. Here is an urgent need to make   parents aware of risk factors and symptoms of bronchial asthma to predict the seriousness of the disease and maintain the quality of life for the child.
